About me
Emma is an award winning fine art photographer based in Brighton, known for her evocative still-life compositions that celebrate the beauty of the natural world.
Her journey into photography is deeply rooted in her connection to the cycles of nature, a constant source of inspiration throughout her life. From a young age, Emma was enchanted by the roses in her grandmother's garden, sparking a lasting love for flowers and the way nature’s beauty evolves with the seasons. This early connection to the natural world continues to inform her work, where she captures the fleeting beauty of seasonal blooms and the subtle changes in light that mark the passage of time.
Emma was also captivated by the dramatic play of light and shadow in art, particularly in the works of the Dutch Masters. Their ability to capture the delicate balance between life and death in their still-lifes left a lasting impression on her. However, while she admired their work, Emma’s approach is distinct: she focuses on capturing the beauty of what’s in season, celebrating the rich textures and colours that evolve throughout the year.
With a background as a stylist and a deep love of flowers, Emma’s photographic style emphasises the intricate interplay of natural light, colour, and form. Each composition is carefully curated, often requiring days to achieve the perfect balance of light and detail. Her work explores the organic and the ethereal, blending seasonal flowers with a keen eye for detail. She aims to create images that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also deeply evocative—images that speak to the transient nature of life and the beauty found in the smallest of moments, inviting the viewer to pause and reflect.
Through her photography, Emma hopes to inspire viewers to rediscover the magic in everyday life, to take a moment to notice the beauty around them, and to cultivate a deeper appreciation for the changing seasons.
