It is a pleasure today to introduce you to Oggetto, a recently set-up online home and lifestyle store, run by a couple who are both passionate about simple and functional products. Each piece is designed with care and attention to detail, but to be used every day. Oggetto's passion combines well with a brilliant eye, as the store feels perfectly curated, and personally I would be very happy to have each and every piece in my home.
I asked Helen, one half of Oggetto, to tell me a bit more about her new venture:
What's your background?
I have recently set up Oggetto with my husband Charlie Camm. With an arts college background, Charlie established a career as a set designer whilst also setting up a scenic construction company. I started my career as a Chartered Town Planner working in the South East and Somerset but, wanting to get involved in something more creative, left the profession to work alongside Charlie in the scenery business.

What made you set-up Oggetto?
We enjoy a shared passion for interiors and the handmade that goes back to our first rental together. As we started to fill it with family pieces handed down through the generations and new finds, many of which were made by artisans and craftspeople, we noticed how uplifting it was to be surrounded by well designed, meaningful objects and have been hooked on interiors ever since. Our careers took us in a different direction but we have indulged our passion in interiors over the years in the way we have decorated our home and chosen what to put in it.
More recently, during one of our many conversations over coffee about where life was taking us, we realised how much we would love to design our own products to sell as well as source from designers, makers and artisans in the UK and around the world. The seed for Oggetto was sown and we set about sourcing products for our collection.

What makes Oggetto special?
We offer a carefully curated collection of products that are functional and thoughtfully designed with a simple understated aesthetic and timeless appeal remaining relevant as fashions change. Our focus is on materials which we chose for their natural aesthetic and sustainability, texture, colour, craftsmanship and individuality. It is a privilege and pleasure to share the work of talented makers with our customers along with an insight into their work.

Do you have any exciting plans for the future?
Lots! We are looking forward to meeting our customers at various shows this autumn starting with Design Junction this month in London where we have a pop up shop, Dulwich Midcentury Modern in November and Selvedge Winter Fair, Bath in December. We plan to start designing our own products next year and would eventually like to open a shop.
