Sophie Abbott

Today, I want to introduce you to the work of a Brighton based artist I met in May, namely Sophie Abbott.  I met Sophie, when she was exhibiting her wonderfully vibrant paintings at the home of Philippa Stanton, who you might remember I posted about here, and last week I was lucky enough to visit her lovely home, which just like her paintings is full of colour! Blue Shed

Sophie works from her studio in Brighton, but her work is sold both nationally and internationally. She is fascinated with the landscape that surrounds her, particularly the British seaside, and strives to capture the essence of this, through the layering of vivid fluorescent colours and mark-making to create abstract paintings which I personally find fun and uplifting.  It is difficult to capture on film, but the depth of colour is truly spectacular.

In the same way her images are full of vibrancy and energy, so is Sophie's house, each room featuring bold colour, and quirky little touches, which works beautifully alongside her paintings!

I loved Sophie's sweet little home studio, below.

It was a real pleasure to come across someone not afraid to use colour in their home, and to stunning effect I think.

If you would like to see more of Sophie's work, check out her website.

I hope you have a great weekend.
