Sussex Flower Farm
For reasons that will become apparent in a couple of weeks time, I had a little bit of a treat this Wednesday, along with Elvia, I got to pay a visit to the absolutely beautiful Sussex Flower Farm. If you read this blog regularly, you will know that I am, and always have been, a bit of a flower fanatic, our house always has at least one vase of flowers, without, it would surely feel a little bit naked! Sussex Flower Farm was amazingly only started this year, by two ladies; Shelley Marks-Thomson and Debbie Chalmers, who became friends over a shared love of gardening at their allotments. I had the pleasure of meeting Shelley, who really was lovely, and is obviously hugely passionate about their venture, she very kindly showed us along each bed, naming all the flowers as we went. After dreaming of the business and looking for land for nearly 8 years, it seems that fate finally took a hand when Shelley called the Wiston Estate, who only the previous night had decided to lease out a small patch of land.
When you see what Shelley and Debbie have created, it really is hard to believe they only started working on the site earlier this year. The flowers are sold to retail outlets, floral designers, wedding and events planners, and for brides-to-be, they offer flowers by the bucket. Below are just a few of the photos I took, as you can imagine I got a bit camera happy!
This is what I brought home with me, buckets full of flowers, and a huge smile!
I look forward to sharing the reason for my visit with you very soon. Oh, just one more thing, as it is the last couple of weeks of the school holidays, I want to spend as much time as possible with my girls, so posts may be a bit few and far between, but bare with me, things will be back to normal very soon.
Have a good weekend.
